I begin a painting with no preconceived plan, letting the paint and my feelings dictate the outcome. Finding a paint brush too confining, I apply paint directly to the canvas with my hand and paint-soaked rags. I combine color and gestural surfaces to create a dialogue between natural forms and abstraction.

I have derived inspiration from the work of Joan Mitchell, Tapies and Van Gough, as well as from phenomena such as weather worn paint on old buildings.
